29-year old Punch-out Easter egg discovered

12 April 2016

A Reddit user has just discovered a new Easter egg in the now 29-year old NES classic, Punch-out!

User midwesternhousewives found that when fighting in the second rounds against Piston Honda and Bald Bull, a bearded man would appear in the crowd. The bearded man would then duck down if there was an opportunity to knock your opponent out.

“Basically, everyone knows you can knock out Piston Honda and Bald Bull in one hit when they attack but there’s an Easter egg in the background of the game that indicates the exact moment.

“The Easter egg isn’t the fact that you can knock these guys out with one hit, it’s the fact that the developers inserted something into the background to let you know when. Pretty cool.”

Now that there have been several documented instances of Easter eggs in the crowd while fighting (a camera flash is another cue), we could see a number of other Easter eggs in the current weeks.
