Marcus Smith, creative director over at Insomniac Games, has confirmed in a post on the official PlayStation blog that Resistance 3 will feature both split-screen and online co-op. The dev had previously said that the game would include support for co-op of some sort, but declined to elaborate. Resistance: Fall of Man included offline co-op, but the feature was inexplicably yanked from the sequel.
“In terms of co-op, we are focusing on a two-player co-op through the single-player campaign which can be played online with a friend, or split-screen on your couch,” he explains.
The announcement comes just after rumours broke yesterday that Killzone 3 might do likewise.
Smith also reveals that the threequel is getting a weapon upgrade system, as well as a “much more focused, progression-based multiplayer experience”.
