With the dust barely settling on the release of Sony’s flagship racing simulator, Gran Turismo 5, Microsoft has already announced that Forza Motorsport 4 will be out in ‘Fall’ 2011, which means we can expect the game on shelves sometime between July and September.
An announcement trailer was revealed at the Spike TV Video Game Awards ceremony over the weekend, although it does not show any actual gameplay footage.
Microsoft has confirmed that Forza 4 will feature Kinect support, and promises that this iteration of the franchise will be the “biggest Forza Motorsport yet.” As always, the game will be release exclusively for Xbox 360, and we can expect Microsoft to make the best of their ‘long term’ partnership with Top Gear.
Discussing their partnership with the hit British TV show, Turn 10’s Dan Greeawalt had this to say earlier this year:
“Bringing together Top Gear and Forza Motorsport is a natural fit.”
“Top Gear is all about automotive passion and playing around with cars which is exactly what we deliver with Forza Motorsport games. We are looking forward to collaborating with their team to bring some of what they do so well on television to our game design process.”
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit took the VGA 2010’s Best Driving Game award, and it would appear that Gran Turismo 5 might not, after the five year wait, have lived up to expectations. Many gamers called it ‘soulless’ and ‘sterile’, and Microsoft will be looking to claim the racing sim crown in 2011.
