Netflix downloads could be on the horizon

Netflix may soon allow subscribers the option to download its content.

This follows an announcement made by Netflix CEO Reed Hastings in the company’s recent Q1 financial earnings call.

“As we expand around the world, where we see an uneven set of networks, it’s something we should keep an open mind about,” said Hastings.

This could be big news for South African subscribers, as local internet structure doesn’t quite match the expectations set by international streaming services. It could also allow users to schedule downloads for when they are asleep or not at home so as not to interfere with regular internet usage.

Both Showmax and OntapTV currently allow South African users the option to download.

Would the option to download content entice you over to Netflix’s offerings? Let us know in the comments below.
