AMD has released an official roadmap of its upcoming GPU releases.
This follows AMD’s Q1 2016 earnings call held on 21 April 2016.
The biggest news is confirmation that AMD Vega, the first architecture to feature HBM2 (High-Bandwidth Memory) will release in early 2017. This will be followed by the AMD Navi release, which will introduce next-generation memory technology to AMD cards.
The roadmap primarily focuses on the upcoming Polaris 10 and Polaris 11 cards and the planned replacement of the Radeon 300 and Radeon Fury series. Specifically, one of the most interesting changes is that the Polaris 10 is set to replace both Fiji and the R9 390 series.
The roadmap shows which products are being launched each year and what market segments they plan to target. It doesn’t show that older product and re-brands will coexist.
