Update: Blizzard has stated that the tweet was an error, and that Competitive Play is set to arrive later this month.

Overwatch’s ranked competitive mode will only launch in July, according to a GameSpot report.

Blizzard confirmed the delay on Twitter, where it stated that the ranked mode will arrive next month.

Previously, Blizzard had stated that the ranked competitive game mode for Overwatch would arrive some time in June.

Competitive play was an implemented feature in the Overwatch Closed Beta, although due to player feedback, Blizzard removed the game mode before the game’s official launch.

Blizzard is currently working on overhauling the ranked game mode in order to offer players a better competitive environment.
