How Takealot’s gaming sale compares to other retail prices

MyGaming recently ran an article highlighting the special gaming and tech deals on offer during Takealot’s weekend flash sale.

Response to the sale prices were not positive, with several readers pointing out that the prices were still relatively high for a “sale”.

This isn’t the first time that Takealot has been associated with pricing discrepancies, with the site previously breaching the Advertising Standards Authority of South Africa’s rules with one of its Daily Deals.

Takealot’s official response at that time was: “The original (or “was”) prices on Deals are the recommended retail prices given to us by our suppliers at the time we listed the goods.”

We therefore took it upon ourselves to compare Takealot’s sale prices with the original retail prices of other well-known stores.

While it will always be easy to find a cheaper price somewhere else if you look hard enough, we instead chose to focus on how prices differ across the board.
