Discovery is responsible for over 90% of Apple watches sold in South Africa

16 August 2016

Discovery is responsible for selling 9 out of 10 of all Apple watches in South Africa, reports Bloomberg.

That accounts for over 30,000 watches sold, according to Discovery CEO Adrian Gore.

This is largely down to the insurers Vitality Health program, which gives members a watch for free provided they are a Discovery credit card holder and can meet the required weekly targets.

Those who miss the targets are then forced to pay a monthly fee.

The program’s success in South Africa means that Discovery plans to roll it out in the US, Asia and the UK.

I wish Discovery offered this plan for something other than the fruit products.
