Over on the L4D Blog, the team has discussed plans for upcoming DLC for Left 4 Dead 2. There are plans in motion for a large, yet-to-be-named DLC package, which will consist of the three original Left 4 Dead maps that have yet to be ported to L4D2 along with an all new map.
The three original levels to be ported are Death Toll, Dead Air, and Blood Harvest. No Mercy has already been ported to L4D2, making use of the gameplay upgrades of the sequel.
The new map will be a community campaign officially endorsed by Valve – Cold Stream. The map will not contain any additions the the Left 4 Dead story, and it will not use any new voice acting. The goal is to create a map purely focussed on a gameplay experience.
The new DLC package will be launching for PC, Mac, and Xbox 360.
Cold Stream is still in development and Valve has opened a dedicated Cold Stream forum to operate as a collection point for feedback and ideas. A beta version of the map will also be making its way to PC and Mac users shortly.
Finally, the L4D Team has indicated that this DLC project is rooted firmly in Valve time, and therefore it will be ready when it’s ready. They did offer the vague indication that it will launch sometime after Portal 2 is released. Portal 2 is scheduled to drop in April 2011.
