Internet Solutions started experiencing network problems shortly after 09:00 today (17 February 2011), causing an ADSL outage for numerous ADSL service providers, including Afrihost and Openweb clients.
Many ADSL subscribers complained about being connected, but not getting any throughput. Initial feedback from subscribers suggests that it is a nationwide problem.
Internet Solutions (IS) was asked for comment about the network problems, but the company could not immediately say what is causing the downtime or when it will be resolved. IS did however promise feedback soon.
Afrihost’s ADSL network status page indicated that “All systems are performing within specified parameters” but did say that they are experiencing a problem with their phones “due to an unexpected line outage.”
Openweb’s Keoma Wright informed subscribers that “There is currently a major DSL outage nationally on the IS network. Clients may experience little to no connectivity”.
Update:
IS representative Duncan Alfers has issued the following statement: “There was a major Telkom power failure in Rosebank. The faulty equipment is being replaced and services should now be back to normal.”
