Publisher Deep Silver is full of surprises this week, first revealing one of the most celebrated game trailers ever, and now announcing a sequel to fantasy RPG Risen.
The sequel will take place several years after the original, with ‘monstrous creatures’ having risen from the sea and wreaking havoc. Developer Piranha Bytes will once again take the helm.
Risen 2 “aims to combine the most loved classic RPG gameplay mechanics of the original Risen with a fresh theme and setting on a huge variety of themed island locales,” says Deep Silver, claiming that the sequel “maintains the most immersive features of the original Risen, with multiple approaches to every challenge allowing players to shape the game world based on their own decisions.”
Risen 2: Dark Waters is being developed for PC and ‘consoles’. There is currently no indication of when the game will be released.
