A Washington-based clinic now solely treats videogame addiction.
Dr. Hilarie Cash had recognized a growing problem of “information junkies” and was determined to do something about it.
“As a Seattle-area general practitioner, in the ’90s she began seeing patients come in with issues she knew nothing about: addictions stemming from the internet, from computers, from video games,” reports Polygon.
“Cash is one of three founders of the reSTART Center for Technology Sustainability, a center focused on treating young adults suffering from various types of internet and gaming addiction.”
The majority patients at reSTART are between 18 and 28, male, and often admitted by worried family members.
