Venerated composer Hans Zimmer contributes to Crysis 2 soundtrack

17 March 2011

EA and Crytek have revealed that they teamed up with composer Hans Zimmer to work on the score for Crysis 2. Zimmer is known for his work on numerous Hollywood blockbusters films, including Inception and The Dark Knight.

Zimmer and his team, which includes Lorne Balfe, worked with the existing composers Borislav Slavov and Tilman Sillescu to create an intense and dramatic score for Crysis 2, which they hope will set the tone for the game’s backdrop of a devastated New York City circa 2023.

“I was drawn to Crysis 2 because of Crytek’s passion for the project and the world they created,” said Hans Zimmer. “And I am very happy with the outcome of our collaboration.”

The soundtrack will be available for download on iTunes, Amazon and other music retailers on 22 March. Those interested can follow the link to a Crysis 2 soundtrack preview.

Crysis 2 arrives on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on 25 March in South Africa.
