Mortal Kombat SA release date moved forward

25 March 2011

Earlier this week MyGaming reported on the confirmation that the Mortal Kombat Kollector’s Edition will be arriving in South Africa. The date given by local distributor of Mortal Kombat, NuMetro, was 29 April 2011 for both the standard and Kollector’s Edition of the game. This is about a week after the EU release date of 21 April. Falling under the EMEA region, South Africa typically mirrors the EU release schedule.

Keith Viljoen, a representative of NuMetro, has explained that they were working on the date of 29 April with consideration of the large number of public holidays falling within the period, and how these may affect the supply chain.

However, Viljoen said that NuMetro is now striving to meet the retail date of 21 April 2011. “We are hoping to meet that street date but with the complication of the all of the public holidays, it may arrive slightly after that date,” said Viljoen.

The Kollector’s Edtion will launch alongside the standard version, for Xbox 360 and PS3. The recommended retail price will be R799 on both platforms. Unfortunately NuMetro could not disclose how many units of the Kollector’s Edition will be arriving on our shores, but one can rest assured it will likely be ‘limited.’

Below are the contents of the Mortal Kombat Kollector’s Edition that SA stores will be receiving. The PS3 version obviously won’t be receiving any Avatars, but will be including playable character Kratos from the God of War series as an exclusive.
