SCEA currently taking applications to “join the God of War team”

30 March 2011

In an industry where the multiplayer game is king, is even the God of War being forced to make friends with other mortals?

Sony Computer Entertainment of America’s Santa Monica office is currently advertising a senior online programmer job vacancy on the “God of War team”. Perhaps more significantly, however, the listed employee responsibilities feature “Designing and implementing systems and tools to support networking needs (such as in-game communication, client-server, match-making, leaderboards)”, and the applicant’s qualifications should include a “Good understanding of networking issues as they relate to games”.

There’s no reason to assume, of course, that just because it’s a job with the guys who did God of War that this is definitely a God of War game – although SystemLink has turned up one anonymous animator’s LinkedIn resume, listing a “God of War 4 cinematic test (PS3)”.
Does it add up? Probably. It’s not like another God of War game wasn’t always inevitable, anyway.
