Super Meat Boy’s Super Meat World level portal launches

4 April 2011

Team Meat has launched Super Meat Boy’s custom level portal, Super Meat World, on Steam. The free mode – unlocked with 20 in-game bandages – is open for business, and offering eight new chapters (that’s over 140 levels) to tempt your appetite for destruction.

“The editor will allow people to basically create anything they have seen in game and upload it to Super Meat World with the click of a button,” Team Meat’s Edmund McMillen tells Joystiq. “Users will also eventually gain the ability to create full chapters that can be uploaded and rated by other users.”
The portal is currently “a work in progress”, with more features coming in later.

Next up and due “soon” is a public beta of the game’s level editor.

“The level editor update will also include a large update to Super Meat World, called ‘The Unknown’, a chapter that randomly pulls high rated levels from the portal together to create and endless world of awesome!” writes Edmund on the dev’s blog.

In the meantime, the game is currently going at 50% off on Steam.
