South African online stores are expecting an increase in retail sales of between 30-50%, according to PriceCheck’s founder of leading product discovery and comparison service, Kevin Tucker.
“Savvy shoppers can really get a lot out of Black Friday in South Africa, particularly if they are prepared and they know how to recognise and identify the best deals.”
A number of online retailers are joining in on the Black Friday festivities this year, going toe-to-toe with their retail counterparts.
There are however risks that are unique to doing your Black Friday shopping online, said Tucker.
“Although shoppers can definitely expect some amazing deals on the day, sometimes they really are too good to be true.”
“It is worth sticking with the names and brands you already know, and investigating every deal before jumping in.”
It’s also a good idea to have an idea of the usual retail prices are for certain products of interest, so that you can recognise good deals and overstated discounts.
A careful inspection of model numbers and product descriptions will allow you to avoid inferior products.
