Last week internet group Anonymous made headlines repeatedly for its ongoing attacks against Sony Computer Entertainment for prosecuting infamous hacker George Hotz for releasing the PS3’s security keys to the public.
Now there is a quickly growing Facebook group which seeks to organise a global PS3 boycott on 16 April.
“Do you really own your own property?”
“Sit in and protest Sony”
“Boycott Sony”
The boycott will take place at various Sony Centres around the world, and the idea is to get protestors to go to their nearest Sony Centre and look grumpy, or something.
The group has attracted 1600 participants at the time of writing, but it will need a lot more than that to get any noticable turn outs at locations around the world. While there is no definite link between this initiative and Anonymous, it falls in line with the group’s agenda and numerous confirmed attendees are vocal Anonymous members.
