Dragon’s Dogma, new Dead Rising and Street Fighter

Capcom has taken the lid off their previously teased title, Dragon’s Dogma. Along with this new IP, Capcom has revealed a new Dead Rising game and a ‘definitive’ version of Street Fighter IV. These titles were announced at Capcom’s annual media event, Captivate.

Dragon’s Dogma

From the creators behind some of Capcom’s best action games, including Resident Evil 4 and Devil May Cry 4, comes Dragon’s Dogma. Set in a huge open world, Dragon’s Dogma is an action-adventure experience that “blends exciting and fulfilling combat with the freedom to explore and interact in a rich, living and breathing world.”

Players will form a party of three and set out on an adventure to track down and destroy a mysterious dragon. Along the way they will encounter some of the biggest and baddest beasts ever to roam the land, and only skilful play and tactical teamwork can save the day.

The game will use an enhanced version of Capcom’s proprietary MT Framework, the engine used for Resident Evil 5 and Lost Planet 2. Dragon’s Dogma is currently pegged to launch on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 sometime in 2012.

Frank West

Dead Rising 2: Off The Record

Dead Rising 2: Off The Record, sees Wilamette survivor and hero of Dead Rising, photojournalist Frank West, take centre stage again as players experience a very different interpretation of events in this reimagining of the Fortune City outbreak of Dead Rising 2. This game will tell Frank’s story of the events from his perspective.

This alternate storyline means an all new Dead Rising 2 experience; with Frank facing new missions, new enemies, building new combo-weapons with which to defeat them, plus a new Fortune City attraction to explore.

There are also promised enhancements to the save system and the co-op experience. Dead Rising 2: Off The Record is scheduled for release on PS3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC around the Q3/Q4 2011 mark.

Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition

Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition will add new characters, a balancing update as well as an enhanced Replay Channel. Capcom promises that “Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition will deliver the definitive version of Street Fighter.”

The add-on version of Arcade Edition will be available as a downloadable upgrade for existing Super Street Fighter IV owners on 7 June 2011. The full console retail product will follow on 24 June in Europe and 28 June in North America for Xbox 360 and PS3.

Good news for PC gamers who were lamenting the omission of their platform for the release of Super Street Fighter IV: the Arcade Edition will be releasing for the PC in July 2011.
