The world’s biggest game of Pac-Man was revealed yesterday at the Microsoft MIX Developer Conference. The game was designed by Soap Creative in conjunction with Microsoft and Namco, to show off the HTML capabilities of Internet Explorer 9, but any up-to-date modern browser can handle it.
HTML 5 continues to show its remarkable capabilities with a new generation of online browser games, and The World’s Biggest Pac-Man is a fantastic example. Players can log in to the site through Facebook Connect and create their own Pac-Man maze to add to the continually growing meta-maze. Facebook Connect isn’t required to play however.
Players can select where they’d like to begin their Pac-Man assault and move between the connecting mazes through the side portals which would have teleported Pac-Man to the opposite side of the screen in the classic version.
The stats will of course continue to grow exponentially, but to get an idea of the scale, at the time of publication, there have been 18070831 Pac-Dots eaten; 93924 lives lost; and 196133 Ghosts eaten. There are 1371 mazes created so far.
South Africa currently sits at position 35 in the global Pac-Man score rankings so get in there and represent!
