Update

The initial announcement was shrouded in confusion, with some journalists reporting the game to be called “Last Night” while others calling it “Last Light.”

As it turns out, the game will be called Metro: Last Light.

Original

Publisher THQ has announced that the sequel to its understated action/thriller/horror apocalypse title, Metro 2033 will now be called Metro: Last Night, instead of the marginally less imaginative “Metro:2034”.

Metro 2033 was one of the more memorable games of 2010, and is has been noted not only for its terrifying encounters and atmospheric setting, but also for the manner in which the PC version could bring even the most monstrous of gaming rigs to its knees.

It was also released on Xbox 360 alongside the PC, and rumour has it at that the sequel will be released on these two platforms as well as the PlayStation 3. We will be keeping a watchful eye on this one over the next few months.
