After dropping a bunch of hot new Mass Effect 3 screenshots sometime yesterday, BioWare quietly announced that, oh by the way, um, heh, you’re not going to believe this but (lol) the game’s delayed until 2012. Which, as any expert can tell you, is also supposed to be the end of the world. So nobody’s ever going to play Mass Effect 3, and we might as well all kill ourselves now.
“Today we have confirmed that Mass Effect 3 will be released in the first three months of 2012. The development team is laser focused on making sure Mass Effect 3 is the biggest, boldest and best game in the series, ensuring that it exceeds everyone’s expectations,” says Casey Hudson, executive producer on the Mass Effect series, as a hundred thousand hearts exploded all over the place in super slow motion.
In the meantime, you’ll be able to play BioWare’s other, not-Mass Effect game, Star Wars: The Old Republic, but it won’t be the same at all, will it? No. No, it won’t.
Bioware has confirmed a bunch of cool new stuff for Mass Effect 3, including more “loot”, space battles, bigger scenarios, more dynamic combat and weapon customization. Also, players will also be able to visit New York, London as well as other unnamed Earth locations.
Mass Effect remains one of Metacritic’s highest rated franchises, with the first game holding an aggregate score of 89/100, and the sequel maintaining a whopping 94/100.
