Microsoft is now showing adverts in Windows 10 File Explorer

Windows 10

Microsoft is showing adverts for its OneDrive cloud storage service in Windows File Explorer.

Users have reported that adverts for the cloud service pop up when browsing files in Windows 10.

The adverts feature the pricing of OneDrive, along with options to “Learn More” or dismiss the advert.

Microsoft has previously added adverts for Windows Store applications to its OS, with ads appearing on the lock screen and Start menu.

If users wish to disable the OneDrive adverts in File Explorer, they can open File Explorer and navigate to View > Options > Change folder and search options.

Under the View tab in Advanced Settings, there is an option called “Show sync provider notifications”.

Disabling this option will remove OneDrive adverts – and notifications – from appearing in File Explorer.
