Gas Powered Games has announced that sign-ups for the ongoing free-to-play pseudo-MMORTS Age of Empires Online beta have been opened up for a limited time. Interested gamers have until Saturday to grab their copy of the beta from the Games for Windows Live Marketplace. Obtaining the beta is a simple matter of adding it to your existing Games for Windows LIVE/Xbox LIVE account.
The final product is scheduled for release sometime this year. It will be free-to-play, supported through a system of micro-transaction revenue channels – Premium Civilisation Packs, Boosters, and Vanity Packs.
