GOG.com, an online digital distributor renowned for its selection of DRM-free titles, has put The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director’s Cut up for sale. They are also offering pre-download of 95% of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Digital Premium Edition for those who purchase the game.
The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director’s Cut is available until May 24th with a 50% discount of US$4.99 (±R). The Witcher is an action-RPG based on books by Polish fantasy author Andrzej Sapkowski, where the player takes the role of Geralt – a powerful monster slayer. GOG.com’s version of the game comes with additional content including: game guide; soundtracks; artbook; and a 2011-2012 calendar featuring the sexiest women from the game.
GOG.com has begun accepting pre-payments for the second part of Geralt’s adventures, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Digital Premium Edition. Those who have already pre-ordered the game on GOG.com can now finalize their purchase and pre-download 95% of the game.
This means that when the game is released on 17 May 2011, gamers will be 5% of a download away from jumping into the RPG action. As the game is DRM-free via GOG.com, there’s no need to activate the game.
All future patches for The Witcher 2 will be distributed via the launcher which requires one-time registration. GOG.com will be offering an updated master build of the game in several months for users who do not care to register their copy.
The Witcher 2 pricing information
In light of GOG.com’s update to their privacy policy (9 May 2011), users who have been experiencing problems registering the correct region for their game purchase will be able to update their location in their account settings page to update their pre-order with the correct offer for the region that they select.
Users can update this by going to ‘My Account’ and clicking on ‘Account & Settings.’
GOG.com will be charging regional customers varying amounts for the game, as seen in the below chart. GOG.com will be charging all customers in USD equivalents to the game’s price in their local currency, and will be offering the fair price package credits back in dollars as well.
In the United States and Canada the game will be $USD 44.99.
Gamers can still take advantage of The Witcher 2 special pre-order offer on GOG.com as the deal ends on May 16th. To receive all the benefits of the pre-order package – the 10% discount, and 1 of 5 classic RPGs – they have to finalize the purchase before May 31st when the pre-order offer ends.
