First Hitman Absolution details emerge

12 May 2011

The Hitman franchise is one of gaming’ most respected, with the majority of its releases maintaining Metacritic scores of 80%+. So we were pleased to learn recently that Square Enix has yet another iteration lined up. The publisher has just recently revealed some enticing details about the game, which is expected to release on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 sometime next year.

Square Enix has confirmed that Keith Carradine will voice the main villain, Blake Dexter.

Marsha Thomason will voice agent 47’s “handler”, Diana Burnwood. Thomason will supposedly have a close relationship with Agent 47, and is described as his “only true human contact”.

Numerous other Hollywood actors are currently working on the game, according to Hollywood Reporter

According to Square Enix, Agent 47 will undertake “his most dangerous contract to date”. “Betrayed by those he trusted and hunted by the police, he finds himself at the centre of a dark conspiracy and must embark on a personal journey through a corrupt and twisted world, in his search for the truth.”
Apparently Hitman Absolution has been built from scratch using IO Interactive’s own Glacier 2 technology. Game director Tore Blystad has said that the game’s storyline will be more serious this time around, and that the visuals will be more stylised.

Absolution will take place in various locations around the USA, and a new Hitman movie will be released next year to coincide with the game release.
