Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has been talking up Nintendo’s next big thing, saying in a recent investor call that it’s “really a fantastic platform.”
After a week or so of internet rumours and amateur Photoshopped prototypes, Nintendo officially announced its new console last month, promising a proper public reveal at E3 in June.
“We think that it will be extremely successful,” Guillemot added, saying also that he expects cross-platform development to be much simpler than previously, as the new console is apparently comparable with the Xbox 360 and PS3 in terms of tech specs.
“What we see is that we will be able to leverage a lot of the work we do for the Xbox 360 and PS3 when we create games for the platform,” said Guillemot. “So we will not have to completely redo the games we create. We will be able to use all of the capacity the console offers and also use all of the work that we do for the other platforms.”
Hopefully, that means less shovelware and more rad games this time around.
