Further suggesting, perhaps, that this game was just never meant to be, the APB Reloaded public beta launch has been suspended following serious player connectivity problems.
“We have come across a new player disconnection issue that cropped up in the last 48 hours that has made us put a temporary hold on the launch of Open Beta until further notice,” writes staffer Bjorn on the dev’s blog.
“The issue manifests itself in disconnecting some groups of players after one to two hours of gameplay, which clearly is not acceptable in Open Beta.”
Apparently a closed beta patch has been deployed, and the game is now being monitored for persisting issues pending a rescheduled launch.
“We are clearly disappointed that this afternoon’s public launch has been put temporarily on hold, but in the end we strongly believe that first addressing this issue is the most critical and important step we can take as a development team,” he adds.
Originally released last year to a poor reception, the game was subsequently yanked from servers when developer Realtime Worlds went into administration. The game was later sold to online games company K2 Productions, and prepped for a second launch as a free to play title.
