New Carmageddon teased on official site

What’s happening in 9 days, 12 hours, 48 minutes, and 27… 26… 25* seconds (at time of writing)? NOBODY KNOWS. But that timer is – significantly, perhaps – counting down to something over on www.carmageddon.com, which clever people like you have already realised is actually the official Carmageddon website.

And that’s about all there is to say about it just now. Check back in 9 days or so.

The original Carmageddon was launched back in 1997, and hoping to stir up some controversy / publicity, UK publisher SCi submitted the game to the British Board of Film Classification for one of those sexy 18+ ratings. This was strictly unnecessary, as the game contained no full motion video, but the whole marketing plan backfired when the BBFC refused to classify the game until all blood and gore was removed. Ten months of litigation later, the game was finally rated and released, in its original form.

Two sequels – Carmageddon II: Carpocalypse Now and Carmageddon: Total Destruction Racing 2000 – following in 1998 and 2000 respectively.
