Hothead Games – now minus Ron Gilbert, mind you – has announced the imminent coming of Deathspank: The Baconing, making the series a trilogy, which must surely be a portent of something truly portentous.
Once again, the game stars internationally accredited Hero to the Downtrodden and fully licensed Dispenser of Justice, Deathspank, as well as a new sidekick, Bob from Marketing, as they quest for the legendary Fires of Bacon. Sounds simple enough.
“Dizzy enemies with the shield bash, deflect ranged weapons back at enemies and use devastating charged attacks to send a message to foes,” says the press release stuff. “Players will feel more in control of the battle situations than in previous DeathSpank games, providing gamers with opportunity and choice when engaging the enemies which stand in DeathSpank’s way.”
The game’s scheduled to launch on PC, XBLA, and PSN “this summer”, which is Northish for “this winter”. So pretty soon, basically.
