Nintendo’s Switch console, which doubles as a handheld unit, is still in huge demand.
According to a report by Fox Business, Nintendo cannot keep up with demand for the device in Japan and the US.
The demand for the console is so high that tens of thousands of Japanese customers are reportedly lining up at events where they stand a 1-in-10 chance to buy the Switch.
“Wal-Mart, Target, and GameStop said they have struggled to meet demand both in stores and online,” stated the report. The retailers expect demand to remain high throughout the end-of-year holiday period.
“Nintendo’s official target is to ship 10 million Switch units in its current fiscal year ending in March 2018.”
Nintendo said it was “doing everything we can to make sure everyone who wants to buy a Nintendo Switch system can do so”.
Switch sales have been a big boost for Nintendo, with the company’s market value surging this year thanks to the console’s strong performance.
