Nintendo latest target of hackers

5 June 2011

The ‘H-A-C-K-E-D’ letters on my keyboard are beginning to wear thin. This time Nintendo is the apparently the victim at the hands of the LulzSec hacking group.

The group previously took credit for hacking the PBS News website, and then mere days later on 2 June 2011, hacking into Sony websites and making off with 1 million user account details and products databases.

The group has once again boasted via Twitter that they have something prepared for Nintendo, alluding to a full release sometime later today. “Silly Nintendo!” By way of evidence the group has posted Nintendo’s web server config file.

The last time LulzSec threatened to do something via Twitter resulted in a ton of Sony information supposedly being stolen and posted for all the internet to see. Sony has yet to respond to the claims of LulzSec and are “investigating”.

The next release could be practically anything and everything that LulzSec manages to grab from the Nintendo web server. Watch this space.
