While a pre-announcement leak might’ve spoiled the surprise a bit (but not really, because it was sort of inevitable, anyway), Harmonix officially revealed Dance Central 2 during Microsoft’s E3 2011 presser last night. It’s more of the same, but now with – AWWW YEEEAHHH! – simultaneous 2-way multiplayer, as well as a proper campaign mode, voice control, and a “redesigned” Break It Down mode.
It was also confirmed that, much like Harmonix’s Rock Band series, the entire setlist from the first game can be imported into the second, bringing the total number of available tracks up to 100 for the sequel’s launch.
The first game was – and probably remains – the most impressive Kinect launch title (even if it does feel somewhat like a really clever tech demo) that makes authentically innovative use of the device’s body tracking functionality. Hopefully they’ll get that whole game thing worked out properly the second time around.
