Torchlight II: new class, LAN play, and mod support confirmed

During E3 2011 Runic Games confirmed that Torchlight II, sequel to their highly acclaimed (and wallet-friendly) indie-bomb, Torchlight, will feature LAN support. I know, it’s sad that LAN support is a feature to be thankful for these days.

Moving on; Torchlight II will apparently have some argument-prevention algorithms – during co-op play, the game will display to players only those monster item drops which they can use with their character.

More great news is that there will be mod support for the game, which will likely lend many, many more hours of life to the game once the creative types start digging in.

No firm price has been set yet, but speculation puts it between the US$20 – US$30 mark (±R135 to ±R205).

A new class was announced at E3, the Beserker. The character was seen unleashing fast and powerful attacks and animal themed spells, such as a pack of wolves which attack enemies. The Berserker was also seen casting a dragon totem which hovered above his head and spat fire at enemies.

There are two other known classes: Railmain – a melee fighter who uses heavy hitting engineering weapons. Outlander – a ranged hybrid fighter who uses rifles and glaives, and a little magic. Pets and fishing will also be making a return.
