Battlefield 3 will run at 30 frames per second on console

19 June 2011

Dice’s Johan Andersson posted via twitter that the developer is aiming to get the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Battlefield 3 running at 30 frames per second.

Responding to a twitter follower, Andersson said “we always do 30 fps on consoles, not possible to fit in vehicles, fx, scale and all players otherwise.”

He has also re-iterated that the console versions will run at 720p, “just as 99% of all games for those platforms.” When asked why it won’t be possible to make the console version look as good as the PC version, he said “why would anyone expect that console would look the same as PC? if that was the case we would have failed with the PC version.”

Speaking of the PC version, Andersson confirmed that the PC version of the game will feature dedicated servers, saying “of course, we always have dedicated servers.”

Battlefield 3 is due out on 25 October, 2011, and is being release for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
