In news that should come as no big surprise to anybody, anywhere, it turns out some gamers aren’t as clued up on the technicalities of game design and platform performance discrepancies as they might think.
There’s been a bit of a furore over the past few days about the PS3 version of Battlefield 3, with some outraged console gamers shocked and stunned that their favourite console’s flux capacitors and ultramegabit galaxy-class transponders aren’t quite up to par with modern PCs.
Responding to the controversy on Twitter, DICE’s rendering architect Johan Andersson says simply that, “Some console gamers have really no idea what they are playing on or what a modern PC is capable of”.
Also, a relevant public service reminder – the Xbox 360 recently turned six, and the PlayStation 3 is almost five. They’re just not what they used to be. Even if, as rumour has it, the PS3 was imported from the future, it was probably more like 2009 than 2019.
