Bleszinski: Gears of War will not be Epic’s “final legacy”

21 June 2011

He might be the guy who invented chainsaws on guns, but Cliff Bleszinski doesn’t want to be remembered for it.

“I can tell you now that if for the rest of my life I am only remembered for a f***ing chainsaw gun, I will drink a bottle of whisky and put a gun in my mouth,” he tells Digital Spy.

“I am far from done with everything. There is plenty of life left in Gears,” he adds, “but you also don’t want to beat a dead horse, right? Gears is amazing and I love it, absolutely adore it, but it will not be the final legacy of this studio.”

Since the first game launched back in 2006, the series has become not only one of the Xbox 360’s premier exclusive brands, but also something of a showcase for Epic’s own Unreal Engine 3. CliffyB’s going to have a pretty hard time topping it, although he could get started with traingun.
