The 3DS’s big deal might be the 3D, but it turns out the 3D isn’t all that for everybody. Which does sort of seem to miss the point entirely, but that’s okay too – hey, even Nintendo legend Shigeru Miyamoto says so, so it must be true.
“There are times when people are going to want to play in 2D anyway,” he told attendees at an E3 roundtable discussion (via Kotaku).
“I think it’s fair for people to say, ‘Oh yeah, for this section of the game, I’m just going to turn the 3D depth slider off.’ And, in other parts of the game, they may want to turn it on. I think that’s a perfectly acceptable way to play the games.”
Shortly after launch, many gamers started complaining about headaches after playing with the device for extended periods of time, a phenomenon not actually all that unusual with 3D displays.
