Telkom announced last month that as of 1 July 2011, its Faster DSL customers will enjoy an 11.3% decrease in the monthly ADSL line rental fee (from R326 to R289).
This price reduction came after Telkom had already increased the speed for its Faster DSL customers from up to 512Kbps to up to 1024Kbps on 1 May 2011.
MWEB has announced that they will join ISPs such as Vox Telecom and Web Africa in passing on the savings from Telkom to their subscribers.
MWEB ISP CEO Derek Hershaw said that they are going to further reduce the pricing on their “All Inclusive 1Mbps products” from next month.
“For new customers it will be effective 1 July 2011 and for our existing customers, from 1 August 2011. We had already billed them for July when Telkom made the announcement,” said Hershaw.
MWEB’s standard all-inclusive 1Mbps uncapped shaped service is now priced at R588, down from the previous R599.
MWEB Business’ Uncapped Unshaped 1Mbps bundled service now costs R1288 per month instead of the usual R1299.
