StarCraft: Final Metamorphosis CGI film nears completion

20 July 2011

Romanian 3D artist Chris “Freespace” Ciocotisan has been hard at work on his latest StarCraft inspired CGI short film – StarCraft: Final Metamorphosis. Previously, Ciocotisan had produced StarCraft: First Contact for an official Blizzard StarCraft fansite, StarCraft Legacy.

Ciocotisan describes First Contact: “I started working on this in mid April 2009, and finished by the end of June 2009. It was quite a ride and I loved bringing to life a part of this amazing universe. It takes place four days prior to the start of the first single player campaign from StarCraft, focusing on the first contact between the Protoss and the Terrans, as executor Tassadar is sent to cleanse Terran colonies of the Zerg infestation. These events are spoken of during the game, but we never saw how it all happened. Until now.”

Ciocotisan has released his final trailer for StarCraft: Final Metamorphosis as he finishes up the project for release sometime within the next few months.

“This new cinematic is a much more ambitious project, with a lot more scenes, lots of characters and most important of all, lots of story. I will be showing facets of all the three main races in the StarCraft universe, and for those of you who know your StarCraft lore and books, lots of familiar characters or events, taking place before or even after what transpires in the original StarCraft,” said Ciocotisan.

Ciocotisan can be found on YouTube as freespace87. If you enjoyed these videos be sure to check out his website, freespace films, for updates on the StarCraft: Final Metamorphosis project, and to see what else Ciocotisan gets up to.
