Limited edition Star Wars Xbox console revealed

21 July 2011

Microsoft and LucasArts have just revealed a limited edition Star Wars-branded Xbox, scheduled to launch alongside the Star Wars Kinect game. The console has an R2-D2-style finish, and features custom sound effects on power-up and disc tray opening.

The console is also bundled with a gold controller (C-3PO, get it?), a white Kinect sensor, standard wired headset, a copy of Star Wars Kinect, Kinect Adventures, and something cryptically described as “exclusive downloadable content” that’s probably just an Avatar t-shirt.

It’s currently scheduled for a US launch sometime “later this year”, with no confirmation yet about Europe or other territories. Since Star Wars Kinect is due to release on 31 December, expect this bundle to arrive just in time for Xmas.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m spazzing out over here. The only way this thing could get any better is if it shipped in a fully-operational Death Star.
