Content cut from LA Noire: it “would never fit on one Blu-ray”

22 July 2011

In a dramatic reversal of the usual reason for cutting content (“It would never fit on one DVD”), Team Bondi’s Brendan McNamara has revealed that the team cut content from LA Noire because it “would never fit on one Blu-ray”.

According to McNamara, that content includes an entire departmental desk job.

“We had a Bunko and Burglary desk – bunko is fraud and burglary is just people robbing houses and stuff – we had eleven full cases for that, which we wrote and did the design for to a certain extent – we even did the art for them too, but it just got to a point where we were never going to fit it on one Blu-ray,” he tells PSM3 mag (via CVG).

“It just becomes super prohibitive at that point. I think there might have been a better arc if we did do that – you get more of a chance to introduce different things – but in terms of the overall experience I think we did pretty well.”

If reports are true that the recent Reefer Madness DLC add-on would be the last for the game, we’ll likely never see any of that cut content. Until the sequel, anyway. Assuming Team Bondi and Rockstar make friends again.
