Bowling not concerned about Battlefield 3

30 July 2011

As the holiday season approaches, game developers put the final touches on their various products in order to get them out just in time to appear under Christmas trees all over the world.
This season though, people are talking about little else besides the intense rivalry between Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3, the two biggest releases of the holiday season.

Representatives of each have been trading blows and taking snipes at each other for months, with Modern Warfare being the defending champ and Battlefield 3 trying to do the dethroning.

Infinity Ward community manager Robert Bowling is playing it cool however, dismissing Battlefield 3 as the same kind of competition they have every year, “If there’s anything we’re used to its competition.”

Waxing a bit more neutral, he wont to say, “There are many great games coming out this season, but the great thing is, all those games have very different experiences that they are delivering which I think is going to be great for people this holiday as they are going to have a lot of choice and variety when they sit down and play.”

This is a sentiment which certainly contains elements of truth, many people have stated that while both Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3 are wartime FPS games, they are offering very different experiences – a bit like comparing Steven Spielberg to Michael Bay.
