Steam’s From Dust preorder bonus is a Team Fortress 2 mask

1 August 2011

Okay, so the bad news is that Steam’s version of From Dust will feature Ubisoft’s DRM. The good news is that preordering it gets you a special edition From Dust mask for Team Fortress 2. That “good news” bit obviously only really applies to people who play Team Fortress 2, but hey, free stuff is free stuff.

The Mask of the Shaman preorder bonus item is modelled after, well, From Dust’s shaman mask, which is basically like a flat bit of cardboard with red hair and a screaming face on it. Very intimidating, I’m sure.

As for the DRM, Ubisoft has confirmed the PC release won’t require an always-on internet connection, so the bad news isn’t that bad.

From Dust launches on PC on 17 August, tagged at $15 (around R100 or so). It’s already out on the Xbox LIVE Arcade – locally too, by the way – and a PSN release is due out sometime later, whenever.

You can preorder the game on Steam over here.
