The game will support a storefront where players will be able to flog off their unwanted items for electronic credit on Battle.Net or real cash monies via an as yet unannounced third party payment provider, news that doubtless has the Chinese prison authorities rubbing their hands with avaricious glee.
Much like similar auction services already in place in other games, Blizzard will charge a “nominal” listing fee and take a cut of the profits on every transaction. To promote the service and encourage players to get involved, however, Blizzard will allow a number of free listings each week.
The system operates at account level, so players can pull stuff from any of their existing characters. Just about anything except quest-related items can be sold, including gear, gold, and even characters.
