Epic has dropped a megaton-class trailer for Gears of War 3’s new Horde 2.0 mode – Bigger, Better, Badasser™ – and it’s stuffed with everything we’d expect, including heaps of meat chunks, frag grenades, and… Berserkers?!
Perhaps taking its cue from everybody’s favourite shield-wall strategies, the New and Improved! mode features an emphasis on fortification, with options to build and upgrade sentry turrets, laser barriers, decoys, and other defence structures against the incoming Locust war draft. Oh, those poor bastards – especially that Drone around 0:55. Momma’s gettin’ a letter from the field commander, “He went out with a bang”.
And the whole shebang-bang-bang is set to a new Gears of War-themed track from Ice-T and Body Count, which is probably pretty cool if you have rubbish taste in music.
Game’s out 20 September, which means I have just a few weeks left in which to get Gears of War 2’s Seriously 2.0 Achievement.
