World of Tanks (WoT) has joined the list of the disciplines of the ESL Major Series, one of the most important tournaments in the Electronic Sports League (ESL), which is the largest gaming league in Europe.
The ESL has also introduced a new Go4-series (Go4WoT), which will last for the next five months. It consists of 21 single cups and five monthly finals. The overall prize money will be 18,000 Euro. The sign-up process is now live for the first Go4WoT-Cup.
World of Tanks is a Free2Play game by Wargaming.net. It is a team-based Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) game in which strategy and teamwork are necessary in order to triumph over the enemy‘s tank division. World of Tanks is the Guinness World Record holder for the largest amount of players gaming at the same time on the same server.
“Wargaming developed a game with huge potential to be accepted by the eSports community,“ said Ibrahim Mazari, the Director of Public Relations at Turtle Entertainment, the company that spearheads the ESL. “[WoT] combines the complex standards of the different genres such as action, simulation, role-play game and shooter – and it is for free. World of Tanks can definitely become a huge eSports game.”
