If you’ve already played Bastion on the Xbox LIVE Arcade, and just can’t get that song – you know the one – out of your head, you might as well just hum along to the real thing. Supergiant Games has listened to the fans, and released the full soundtrack, as well as two bonus tracks, as a digital download on the official Bastion website.
For US$10 (±R70), you can get the 22-track album in MP3 or a range of other formats for “audiophiles and nerds”, or for US$15 (±R105), you can order it on one of those old-skool compact disc thingums.
I bought this pretty much instantly when it was launched on Friday, because it really is the most amazing game soundtrack I’ve ever heard. “Acoustic frontier trip hop”, as composer Darren Korb describes it, is totally my new favourite thing.
First, a word of caution from Supergiant’s own Greg Kasavin: “The music in Bastion is key to the experience. We advise playing through the game before listening to the soundtrack.”
Bastion bagged ten E3 2011 awards, including the Game Critics Award for Best Downloadable Game, Game Informer Magazine’s award for Best Downloadable Game, and G4tv.com’s award for Most Original Game.
Bastion is out on PC via Steam on 16 August, and already available to preorder.
