A heap of new Borderlands 2 info was dumped on the internet over the weekend, courtesy of the Game Informer-reading guys at Gematsu.
According to the report, the game introduces a bunch of totally new protagonists, including the dual-wielding dwarf “Gunzerker”, Salvador, while the first game’s motley crew of bounty hunters will feature as NPCs this time around.
The game also adds Eridium, a sort of does-everything compound that can be bolted onto gear to improve stats, as well as traded as currency.
Co-op play remains 4-way, while enemies are “more varied”, and AI is “greatly improved”. Interestingly enough, Gearbox is apparently chucking the original game’s weapons for something entirely new, with each manufacturer’s catalogue of shooters featuring their own “unique styling”, as well as custom decals and other enhancements.
There’s also a new vehicle called a “Technical Bandit”, although nothing much more is said about it.
Although Borderlands 2 doesn’t yet have an official launch date, it’s expected to hit the dust around fiscal 2013, which starts in April 2012.
