Freddy Krueger drafted into Mortal Kombat’s ranks

10 August 2011

One, two, Freddy’s coming for you…

And he’s right behind you! Well, technically more like right in front of you. Assuming you’re looking at Mortal Kombat’s DLC catalogue, anyway, because that’s the only way this gag is actually going to work. That’s right, everybody’s favourite teen-killer is back, again, this time in a video game. Is nowhere safe? This guy really gets with the times.

The dream realm’s resident glove fetishist is now available in downloadable form (MWAHAHA) on PS3 and Xbox 360, and tagged at $4.99 / 400 MSP respectively. If you’ve previously purchased the Xbox Season Pass for the game, Krueger’s the final Kombatant in the deal, while PS3 gamers can get him with Kenshi, Rain, and Skarlet in the warrior bundle.

If his Fatality move isn’t a great, gushing gout of blood from a hastily summoned bed, though, I’m calling this one a total dud.

If NetherRealm’s serious about bringing in some 80s’ icons, who should be next? I’d love to see Freddy go up against The Evil Dead’s Ash, or maybe even Skeletor. That’d be awesome.
